About Jason Crundwell
Jason has been designing websites since 1996. Early on, his website (courtesy the WayBack Machine) included one of the first directories of national and local tv networks. The website has also been a place for Crundwells from around the world to connect with the family name.
His professional web career began in Toledo, Ohio in 2001, when during his time at WTOL-TV he became more involved in the station’s web site, publishing web video, news content and severe weather.
In 2004, he took a new position in as the Digital Content Director at KRIS-TV in Corpus Christi, Texas. At KRIS 6 News, he built an award-winning website, winning several Texas Associated Press Broadcaster Awards.
He also won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for his work with coastal Emergency Management Directors in developing an online Hurricane Center. Before leaving, KRIS-TV monthly visitors were on par with the local newspaper.
In October 2007, Crundwell was named the Digital Director for WISH-TV in Indianapolis. Again he was able to repeat his pattern of success and made WISHTV.com the top television website in the market for local visitors in 2010.
While at the helm of WISHTV.com, he introduced the station and its anchors and reports to social media. He also a major player in the culture change from a traditional TV station newsroom to a 24-hour content center.
Before leaving WISH at the end of 2012, he covered hundreds of major news stories including:
- September 11, 2001
- The Great Northeast Blackout
- I-280 Bridge Collapse
- Hurricane Rita
- Vice President Dick Cheney accidental shooting of a Texas lawyer on a hunting trip
- The Indiana State Fair rigging collapse
- Super Bowls XLIV & XLVI.
- Numerous severe weather events.
At WISH, his team’s work was honored again by the Associated Press of Indiana, the Society of Professional Journalists of Indiana and a second Edward R. Murrow award from the Radio & Television Digital News Association.
After leaving WISH in December 2012, he decided to chart a new path on his own and opened Crundwell Digital Marketing.
Crundwell Digital quickly built a small, but robust portfolio of clients — enough to build a stable business.
In 2015, Crundwell took on a new challenge and a “bucket list” opportunity to return home as the Director for Development at St. Peter’s Parish & School. He’s a 1995 graduate of St. Peter’s and is excited to be back in hometown of Mansfield.
Crundwell Digital Marketing will continue with a focus on WordPress hosting and site management and will work with clients who are motivated to improve their digital space.
Outside of work, he is married with three kids (his stockholders). He is an active member of the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic fraternal organization. He is a member of the Richland Area Chamber of Commerce, Richland Young Professionals and of course, a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
